Yoga and the Mind,
Sunday 19 April 5.00 – 6.30pm.
We are often asked whether we can run workshops for those who want to find out more about yoga – without signing up for the two-year teacher training course! Where better to start than with the mind.
Those of you who come to classes at Agama no doubt know that yoga isn’t just about the body. Our classes don’t just build strength and flexibility, but also encourage you to work with your breath, and focus your mind.
Yoga Sutra 1.2
yogah cittavrtti nirodhah
What is yoga?.
Yoga is the ability to direct the mind exclusively toward an object
and sustain that direction without any distraction.
TKV Desikachar, Heart of Yoga
We invite you to find out more about how yoga views the mind – at our workshop in April, that will be led by our yoga and vedic chant teacher, Fiona Hardie.
Fiona will bring together teachings from the Yoga Sutras and other texts, that will help you understand more about your mind, how it influences your actions, and how you can affect your mind to give yourself a better chance of dealing with the challenges that life throws up. The class will conclude with a short meditative practice.
You may also like to enrol in the 4-week series: Yoga for a Healthy Mind, that will run soon after, in May, at a similar time (Sunday 3, 10, 17, 24 May: 5.00 – 6.15pm).
Enquiries please contact Barbara Brian. Bookings can be made online or with any teacher at Agama.
