Bookings now open:

4-week classes on Sunday’s 11:45 – 1PM in February, May, July and September 2019.

Once again we will be running four series of chanting classes through the year. Fiona Hardie, one of our teachers, is a qualified chant teacher from the KYM in Chennai. In the tradition of Krishnamacharya we focus on vedic chants for healing – chants from the Vedas, that are thousands of years old, and have been passed down from teacher to student. Vedic chants have only three notes – you don’t have to be ‘musical’ to chant them; but they are powerful – you can feel their resonance inside and around you.

Each series involves 4 one-and-a-quarter hour classes, on consecutive Sundays (11.45-1.00pm after the Sunday morning asana class). This regularity allows you to practice and hopefully retain the chants that you learn.

Put this year’s dates in your diary:

February 10, 17, 24, March 3.
May 12, 19, 26, June 2.
July 14, 21, 28, August 4.
September 1, 8, 15, 22.

Ideally it’s best if you can commit to all 4 classes in a series, though it is possible to join in for only 2 or 3. Beginners will benefit from taking a private class with Fiona before starting a series (one class is enough). These could be for an individual or a small group if there are a number of people interested.

Fiona will also be running special chant classes for qualified teachers trained in the tradition of Krishnamacharya – on Yoganjalisaram. This is a collection of verses written by Krishnamacharya, which bring together the holistic teachings of yoga in 32 slokahs. It feels like a privilege to learn this chant, in Krishnamacharya’s own words. Dates for these classes will be announced shortly.

With enquiries please contact Fiona Hardie or Barbara Brian. Bookings can be made online or with any teacher at Agama.
