Integrating yoga tools into your Āsana practice

Integrating yoga tools into your  Āsana practice

6.30 - 7.45pm, Thursdays beginning 5 Oct
with Denise Duprat

The goal of this class is to experience the layering of the different tools of Yoga in our Āsana practice. Introducing Prānāyāma in Āsanas and the use of sound in Āsanas.

We will work in blocks of 8 meetings, where there will be a physical proposal, working progressively towards a target posture.  Experiencing the posture first in a dynamic way and then in its permanence.

Our first encounters will be mostly directed to the learning of the vinyāsas and the physical experience of the practice.

Once we have learned the movement and experienced the target posture, the focus will shift to the breath, introducing Prāṇāyāma into the Āsanas, following a specific breathing pattern that will support the target posture, deepening its effect on a physical and energetic level.

In the last meetings, we will add to our Āsana practice the tool of sound,  introducing mantra repetition,  sounds that will  further deepen the energetic and psychological effect of the practice.

The integration of subtle tools into our movements and postures will elevate the āsana practice to an experience of greater impact on our subtlest layers.  Achieving empowerment from the outside in.

Fees: Casual class $28 ($25 concession), 8 class block $190
