Exploring the Potential of the Mind

A weekend long short course for yoga teachers wishing to further their study

Timetable

DAY ONE | Saturday 16 March, 10am - 4.30pm - led by Barb Brian

Explore the Potential of the Mind with AYC founder and director Barb Brian and joined by other professionals. Learn to integrate asana, pranayama and pratyahara tools within meditative practices. This will include a brief review of selected yoga sutra-s from chapter I&II of the Yogasutra of Patanjali.

  • 10-11am Introductory asana practice

  • 11.15am-12.30pm How to engage the mind through mindfully using body, breath and senses. Establishing mindfulness in action.

  • 12.30-1.30pm Lunch

  • 1.30-3pm Personalising an integrated yoga practice - an interactive workshop

  • 3.30-4.30pm Integrated practice – asana/pranayama/pratyahara


DAY TWO | Sunday 17 March, 10am - 4.30pm - led by Jill Harris

Day two will continue the exploration of the potential of the mind, with a special focus on Chapter 3 of the Yoga Sutras. The day will be led by Jill Harris our highly experienced AYC guest teacher and director of Kyo Yoga in Ocean Grove.

  • 10-11am Practice with gentle asana, mudra & bhavana

  • 11.15am-12.30pm Exploring subtlety in practice through the final 3 limbs of yoga (dharana, dhyana, samadhi). Developing samyama and tools to assist a refined state of focus.

  • 12.30-1pm Lunch

  • 1.30-3.30pm Parinama (change) and its effect on practice. Explore concepts from Chapter 3 that can we use to anchor our practice. 
    3.30-4.30pm
    Meditative practice using energetic anatomy (cakras) and subtle tools including mantra.


Fees

Half day $80 - Morning session (10am -12.30pm) or afternoon session (1.30 - 4.30pm)

Full day $140

Weekend $250
